Baby's Room!!

Well, I have finally decided to give in and jump on the band wagon and start a blog. I figured that soon Brad and I will have something interesting to talk about and show off - our son. So here it goes, my first blog post...

Brad and I currently have two big construction projects going on in our lives - the house and our baby. Well, this week those two projects were able to merge as we started, and basically finished, the nursery. We had Thursday off from work this week because of Pioneer Day and we took full advantage of it by cleaning up, painting, and laying the carpet in the nursery.

Lets go back to the very beginning and remind ourselves what it looked like like when we very first got the house. Frightening!

A couple months ago Brad cut out the window in this room in order to make it a legal bedroom. So the last several weeks he has worked on framing, sheetrocking, taping, and mudding in that little cove area. Then on Thursday he woke up early in the morning and textured it, as seen in the picture. He did an excellant job making it match and merge smoothly from the other sheetrock that was done before. In the morning we had no idea what we were going to do for the room but we went to Lowes, picked out some paints, and decided on a plan. We painted the bottom 3 feet blue, Brad calls it "smurf blue."
And if you can tell from the picture, we painted the top part a light green.

We had some extra trim lying around that we painted white and put up between the colors as chair rail. And then we also put the base board and layed the carpet. Thursday was a very good day!!
Today (Saturday) was very exciting for me because we went to a garage sale and bought a crib and changing table that is also a dresser!!!! It feels so good to have both of these bought, I have been searching KSL and stressing about these purchases for several weeks now. They are both like 14 years old but they are in very good condition and seem like very good quality. I think we got a really good deal on them, wish is also very fun!

And there we have it, a completed nursery. We absolutely love the room and how it all turned out, it looks very good!! I now feel ready to bring a baby into our home. I need to thank Brad for helping me fulfill my "nesting instinct!!"

The room looks so cute! Ever since you told me about it I have been obsessing over paint samples and such. I like your blog as well...I almost used the same layout you chose!
