Levi Almost 4 Months

This Sunday Levi will turn 4 months old so it is time to reflect on his life and new accomplishments that he has achieved. It is amazing to me that he is ONLY 4 months old. I remember when he turned 1 and 2 months old that I couldn't believe how fast that time went and how old he was, but now it feels like he has been in our lives for a lot longer then just 4 tiny months. It feels like he has always been here as a part of our family.

I am so proud of Levi for several reasons. First, last week he rolled over for the first time, it was so exciting! I put him onto his tummy (which he usually doesn't like) just to help him work different muscles and to get him off of the back of his head which is becoming quite flat. Well, sure enough he didn't like being placed like that but instead of just whining he just pushed himself over onto his back. It was really fast and all of a sudden, he didn't even act like he was trying before it happened. We have tried several times since and he has done it again after we have assisted him before over and over again. But he hasn't done it again without promptings. That's okay, I'm still proud of him.

Secondly, I am proud of Levi for how well he has started to fall asleep on his own. This is definitely the most exciting achievement that I have seen yet from Levi. I have just very recently complained to many people how bad he is doing and how difficult it is to make him cry himself to sleep and how it looked like we weren't getting any closer, but then all of a sudden it just started working. It has been since Sunday night that he has put himself to sleep for every single nap and all bedtimes. It has been so wonderful never having to rock him to sleep and then slowly set him down only for him to wake up and I have to start all over again. Most of the time now he just cries for like 5 minutes or so and then he is asleep. We have had a couple long marathons of crying but eventually he still has gone to sleep on his own. It is so wonderful! I hope he keeps it up. The one problem is that he isn't sleeping as long. I really can't complain, he is still going almost 8 hours, but a couple weeks ago he was doing like 9-10 hours every night. But that's okay, I am still plenty happy with him just going to sleep by himself.
Thanks Jolene for these two pictures! You did an excellent job with them.
This is Levi holding onto the finger of his Great Grandpa Reed. So sweet!

Mom and Levi just cuddling in the evening.
I set him up and then put a bunch of toys around him to see how well he could entertain himself and grab and pick up toys that are set around him. He did pretty good. He still kind of needs someone to entice him with a toy before he will grab at it.

He got one, and of course it went straight to his mouth!

Adorable chubby cheeks. That is great that he is still able to put himself to sleep. You're an awesome mom!
