Sunshine and Summertime

Several weeks ago, Melanie, Jolene, and I, with our kids, went to Wheeler Farm. It was a lot of fun. It is so nice to be able to get out of the house and enjoy the sunshine and warmth with fellow mothers.
Levi at Wheeler Farm enjoying the sunshine!
(well, at least all the sunshine I allowed to get to him.)
Last summer we just focused on the interior of our house and pretty much ignored the outside. So this year we had a lot of making up to do with maintenance and improvements outside. It is especially difficult because we have heard from our neighbors that the yard hasn't been taken care of at all in the last 6 years or so. Our back yard neighbors said that the only time they saw the previous owners even mow the backyard grass was when the house was for sale.

Here is our front yard flower garden. We bought all perennials that will grow into flowering bushes. They all look small and spread out now, but the plan is once they grow it will look great. (That's our hope at least.)

This is also my first year planting a vegetable garden. Here are my little peas coming up. They are looking a lot better now, this picture was from like a week are more ago. I am also growing carrots, watermelon, and corn. We shall wait and see how it all turns out.
Brad has been working hard outside ever since spring has come. He has been scrapping off all the old ivy from the eaves under the roof and then painting on primer and then white paint. It makes such a difference in making the house look newer and nicer. (In this picture he hasn't gotten to the side that is facing the camera yet.)

MAN! That is not a good camera angle for my self-esteem. Next time can you photoshop that please? :-)

WOW I didn't know you planted a garden. I think that's awesome! Maybe one day I can do that too! I hope you get some good food.
