Spring has Sprung

It finally feels like spring!  It has been so nice to be able to get out of the house and enjoy the outdoors, especially for the boys.
This summer is the summer of landscaping our backyard.  To get started we got this huge pile of top soil to work into our dirt.  It's still a little early to get working on it so the boys are having a great time playing with it.
Even though it is a little early to start working our ground, Brad has been getting anxious to do something with our backyard.  So he decided to build a big grow box next to our house.
Before
 After.
This is were I am planning on growing strawberries, yum, yum!! Brad wanted to add a little interest to it so he built it double-decker.
Enjoying the sunshine.  Jared didn't need the hat, he just thinks it's fun wearing it.
Trying to enjoy my view and privacy while it lasts, we heard they will start building roads and houses back there this summer.  A fence is on our to-do list this summer.

In a very small way, I am kind of sad to see our yard transformed into a perfect, fenced in, grassy, yard (in a very small way). Just because it has been so fun to see the boys just be boys and run around and dig in the dirt and wander through the field a little ways. It just feels like we will be caged in and constrained, especially with the neighborhood going up around us. I guess with this location my boys got a little taste of what I had growing up with lots of farmland all around me, it would be nice for them to have all of that also. But at the same time, I am so excited and anxious to get our beautiful yard, it is going to look so nice once we are done, I can't wait!!! And the best part will be that I will no longer have dirt constantly tracked throughout my house. :)  And we will find ways to make it fun for the boys as well!
